Professor David Musial is an award-winning
Performer, Composer, Producer, Director and Instructor.
David’s students range from 18 to 75 years young! His motto in production:
“IF IT’S NOT FUN, DON’T DO IT!”

David believes that MUSIC & VIDEO CREATION is ART and should be enjoyable. He has had some horrible college instructors that were knowledgeable but boring! He has had many wonderful instructors. Theory, of course, is important, but so are feeling and compassion. David plays Piano, Pipe Organ & Synthesizers. David sings but is not a “soloist.” He sings the songs (hundreds) he composes, and he has been an acclaimed professional song leader in churches and has conducted a multitude of choirs over the years. He has been praised for his amazing keen sense of “pitch” and has taught college students to encourage professional singers to record at their “best gently.” David is an expert studio vocal producer and has worked on over 100 records, scored music for cartoons, TV commercials, and shows, and produced an immeasurable amount of vocal “voiceover sessions” for music and broadcast. He has designed several “turnkey” recording studios and also a TV and Radio Production Center.
He puts his early college days of Electrical Technology and Engineering, Drafting, and Acoustics courses into reality.

David has been using Mac computers for Music Production with MIDI since they were invented, and soon started also to learn the visual arts programs and has mastered many aspects of Photoshop, and video editors like iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere. David is a Moog Expert (being that he was friends with Bob Moog) and is skilled with the 4-Dimensional LUMI and the 5-Dimensional Seaboard by ROLI, the STATE-of-Keyboard-Art". He has also used all kinds of other applications like Autotune, Melodyne, Reason, East-West PLAY, Native Instruments Kontakt Komplete, Universal Audio LUNA, WAVES, Omnisphere, Band-In-A-Box, STEM Mixing, Surround Mixing, and more.  One project he worked on earned an Emmy, one of his students earned a Grammy, and several of the albums he contributed to went gold and even platinum. So to make a difference in learning more about any of these topics, book an interview with Professor Musial today.

ABOUT DAVID...
FULL BIO HERE
David begun private lessons in 1967 at age 7, with the amazing Jane Liskiewicz-Pfeifer (Professional Pipe Organist in Buffalo), and then the late Carlos Annibale (Jazz Legend in Buffalo) and the late Bob Armstrong (NBC Radio Orchestra/Benny Goodman/Glenn Miller.) He studied Electronic Music on the Majestic “Monster” Moog at SUNY at Buffalo, (where he recorded his first album in 1979), and then went on the the fabulous SUNY @ Fredonia where he studied Music Theory, Classical Pipe Organ, Electronic Music and Record Producing. Musial then received a rare private sponsorship to conduct Doctoral Studies at the Juilliard School Of Music (Orchestration, Electronic Music & the Psychology of Music), and he also received the very first full-teaching fellowship for the new Masters in Music Technology program at New York University. He won “Instructor-Of-The Year” 3 times by the student government in the 1990’s! In 2004 David designed the Music Technology program at the prestigious Stevens Institute of Technology and it won second place in 2012 as the “Most Innovative Changing The Industry” at the BestColleges.com organization. Musial’s students have one #1 Records on the Billboard Charts, work at major Record, Animation, TV & Radio companies & magazines in NYC and beyond. Musial has been featured on countless radio & TV interviews and in newspapers, as well as his favorite “KEYBOARD Magazine”, RECORDING, ROLAND & MODERN LITURGY Magazines. David has been featured in the NEW YORK TIMES for excellence in Liturgical Music Technology. The U.S. Department of Justice presented Musial with an award for “Promoting Positive Messages Through Music” to the youth of our nation. He scored the theme for an anti-violence campaign for the U.S. Department of Education and it earned an Emmy Award for MTV.

Some Kind Quotes from Parents and Alumni

“God has blessed you with great and wonderful talents”
Most Rev. Edward D. Head, D.D., Bishop of Buffalo
“At one recent service, during a hymn a parishioner leaned over
and whispered loudly to the woman next to her,
‘IT SOUNDS LIKE ‘LES MIZ’ .
His electronic orchestra sounds as if it belongs in an ‘Andrew Lloyd Weber’ musical.
People are always saying
‘WHERE’S ALL THAT MUSIC FROM?’.”

NEW YORK TIMES 1995
December 10, 1995

"David Musial is a person of great promise and unusual giftedness.

He has remarkable skills in the area of music, and in a most creative way.

He is able to listen to sounds and distinguish instruments readily,
decipher various tones and pitches and create moods in the way he uses music himself.

He is one of the most unusual persons I have met
in that he has a wholeness and a wholesomeness
rarely found in the masses of people."

Fr. Art Smith, President-CTNA: Catolic Telecommunications Network of America
& Director of Daybreak TV Productions 1987

"David integrates technology into teaching music which makes kids excited to learn and practice so even some - what often seem like boring drills (i.e. practicing scales) -turn out to be fun and totally doable!
David has a great approach and energy, is very creative and a total pleasure to be with."

Mom of the 6 to 7 year old son-Kamilla Dorota Mięsak
"I could never have imagined that my life would be changed so drastically
by such an incredibly intuitive professor!"
Brady Cudmore
Broadway/Carnegie Hall/Disney
"Mr. Musial is a wonderful music director, musician & composer."

Very Rev. Canon Joseph Urban, Saint Anthony of Padua, Jersey City 2014

“David has a wonderful talent and style!

Rev. Alexander M. Santora, Pastor: Our Lady Of Grace, Hoboken, 2014

"David’s vision and enthusiasm motivated each one of us to participate fully and grow.
In addition to David’s skills as a teacher and a leader,

He is an incredible and gifted musician.
His his use of sophisticated technology to enhance the music program while never losing the personal, real-life quality of the music is quite impressive.  David’s confidence and optimism are contagious so we follow his lead and are frequently amazed with the results”

Mrs. Phyllis Spinelli, Choir Director, NYC Area

"David and the choir did one of the most beautiful MUSICAL Liturgies
I think I ever heard.

It (synthestration in church) was totally accepted here. it rought about a great response in participation.
The ehterial connotation that it gives you, the other-worldliness of it, prompts your to be aware of more than just yourself.
David brought a complete turnaround in the sound.
I really think that this is where the Church and Music are going.

Rev. C.J. Westfield, Music Director Audrey Coursen, Author Sue DiBianca
MODERL LITURGY MAGAZINE
April 1997

“Musial has written several songs to inspire young people to do the right thing--the first is called...
"TAKE A STAND" which earned and "EMMMY AWARD" for MTV
for the United States Department of Education. His song,
"WE, ARE, DRUG, FREE!" won 1st Place
for A PARTNERSHIP FOR A DRUG FREE AMERICA,
it was performed for the DARE International convention at
DISNEY WORLD.
His song, "IMPACT" was performed in the 'HALL OF HEROES" at the
PENTAGON!
